Bold claim: Genoa City’s favorite soap is about to shake things up in a way that fans won’t forget. Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox are returning to The Young and the Restless for a multi-episode arc that promises lasting consequences for the town’s residents.
Moore will reprise his role as Malcolm Winters, while Fox steps back into Dr. Stephanie Simmons. Filming for the extended storyline began today and the episodes are slated to air in April.
CBS teases that the duo’s comeback will unleash “shocking” repercussions across the canvas of the show.
Shemar Moore’s Y&R tenure spans 1994–2005, with notable reappearances in 2014, 2019, and 2023. His 2023 return marked the 50th anniversary of the series, featuring a tribute moment where a portrait of Malcolm’s late brother Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) was unveiled.
Moore’s resume includes eight NAACP Image Awards and the 2000 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his work on the show.
Vivica A. Fox originally portrayed Dr. Stephanie Simmons from 1994 to 1995. This marks her first return to Y&R since 1995. Fox’s daytime breakthrough came with Generations, where she shared screens with the late Kristoff St. John.
The Young and the Restless is produced by Bell Dramatic Serial Company in collaboration with Sony Pictures Television. Josh Griffith serves as executive producer and head writer, with Sally McDonald as co-executive producer.
In other exciting news, Y&R recently announced a crossover with Beyond the Gates, set to begin airing this June.
The show’s daytime schedule remains: weekdays at 12:30 p.m. ET/11:30 a.m. PT on CBS, with availability on Paramount+ for streaming.
