In a playful yet pointed jab, Elon Musk took aim at US President Donald Trump's newly established Board of Peace during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Musk's witty wordplay raised eyebrows and sparked curiosity about the controversial project.
"I heard they were forming a peace summit, but I thought, is that p-i-e-c-e? Like, a piece of Greenland, a piece of Venezuela?" Musk quipped, eliciting laughter from the audience. He continued, "All we want is peace," to quiet chuckles.
But here's where it gets controversial: Musk and Trump's relationship has been a rollercoaster since 2025, swinging from cooperation to public spats. In Davos, where every word carries weight, Musk's comment was more than just a joke.

Trump officially unveiled the Board of Peace in Davos, positioning it as a conflict resolution body and a potential rival or parallel to the UN. Critics argue that Trump's leadership and the council's presidential focus raise concerns. The proposed financial structure is also eyebrow-raising: countries gain membership for a limited time, but a $1 billion payment could grant permanent status. This reinforces the perception that it's less about diplomacy and more about an exclusive club with access and influence for sale.
And this is the part most people miss: many of the signatory states are authoritarian regimes. Trump's project, billed as a foreign policy flagship, is under intense scrutiny, especially when comments come from Elon Musk, who was once part of Trump's power structure during his second term, heading the controversial Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk and Trump's relationship has been an on-again, off-again affair. During the presidential campaign, Musk supported Trump with over $230 million, using his social media platform X to amplify Trump's messages.
